Nacht-leben

There is an extraordinary exhibition this autumn/winter at Sinclair Haus Museum in Bad Homberg Germany.  this jewel of a museum is the only museum I know of dedicated exclusively to a program of exhibitions and events promoting art and nature – kunst und natur.

I am showing nine mezzotints alongside esteemed fellow European artists in an exhibition that questions our relationship to the night.  The curation is sometimes poetic, sometimes scientific, sometimes foreboding – even a touch dramatic in places.  With minimal interpretation and always putting the images to the fore,  this show celebrates  a small group of artists for whom ‘dunkel licht’ has meaning far beyond the bright fast waking world.

Thank you again to everyone at Sinclair Haus for looking after all the artists and our work so well before and during the exhibtion.  And to all the great artists I met. May we meet again.

A side note: almost all the work in the show is highly contemporary and beautifully presented large-format photography or film. At times I felt like an interloper from the 1600s with my cluster of mezzotints, so it was good to have the tiny Max Ernst engraving wittily placed just along from my own work for company.
