Thank you for buying one of my prints. Your support is really appreciated and I hope your mezzotint brings you and your family many years of joy.
Your mezzotint is hand engraved and hand printed on beautiful, heavy-weight rag paper. Tiny variations, ‘flaws’ and markings in the print or paper are what makes them special and unique works of art.
Unwrapping and caring for your print:
Please unwrap your print with great care. If it is packed flat, have look and then please keep it in its archival wrapping until you get it to the framer. If it is rolled then the best thing to do is to carefully remove it from the tube and place it out of the way on a table so that the paper can ‘relax’ and unfurl naturally.
It might be best to do this with your framer, who can then leave the print to relax for a few days before putting it under boards to finish flattening out. Mezzotints look great either ‘float’ mounted, or with a window mount. We recommend asking your framer to use archival quality materials throughout.
Take care choosing a mount board that matches the paper colour well…often it will be an ‘antique white’ or similar. Also, it is really worth spending a little more on a high quality UV protecting, anti-reflective glass.
